Anyone paid more than $40 for their permit?

Postby newportri » Thu Feb 18, 2016 2:33 pm

I was just curious if anyone here has paid more than $40 for their permit (not including finger prints)? This includes the permit fee itself and any "processing fees" they might have.

$40 in West Greenwich. I supplied the fingerprints by way of the RIAG's office, which was an additional $15. I'm not sure if WGPD would have done the fingerprints, since I already had extra copies from my out-of-state applications. They did not use the 1X1 picture I provided, they took their own.

$40 in EG also. They did the fingerprints, no additional cost.

Cumberland was $40 in November of 2015, plus the cost of notarizing reference letters and going to Providence to get fingerprinted at the AG office.

I paid $40 in Cranston last spring, however that has changed. The app package now states $100 ($40 + $60 "administrative fee").

I see they charge $38 for finger printing:
All fingerprinting is done by appointment only and requires a $38.00 (thirty-eight) CHECK OR MONEY ORDER at the time of your appointment. You may call (401) 477-5024 for an appointment

As well as the $60 fee:
In addition, the City of Cranston assesses an administrative fee of $60

Though they are strictly forbidden do do so by state law:
§ 11-47-58 Firearms – State preemption. – The control of firearms, ammunition, or their component parts regarding their ownership, possession, transportation, carrying, transfer, sale, purchase, purchase delay, licensing, registration, and taxation shall rest solely with the state, except as otherwise provided in this chapter.

Has anyone raised this issue yet?

Non-refundable fee of $100 due at the time a completed application is submitted. Inclusive of electronic fingerprinting and processing of background checks.
