"With weapons drawn, Waltham Police make gun arrest"

A 28-year-old Waltham man was arrested Wednesday after police suspended his license to carry a firearm.

With weapons drawn, police arrested Gevork Dertsakian, of 380 Lexington St., on charges that he failed to surrender his license to carry a firearm, according to Waltham Police Sgt. Joseph Guigno.

The arrest came after police received reports of Dertsakian’s “paranoid” behavior and writings, Guigno said. According to Guigno, Dertsakian is a Harvard University student. In response to the paranoid behavior, police suspended his license to carry a firearm, Guigno said.

At around 4:15 p.m., officers went to Dertsakian’s home to recover his license and weapon, Guigno said. Out of precaution and safety concerns, officers drew their weapons and ordered him out of the house with hands up, Guigno said. Dertsakian complied, came outside and submitted to arrest.

Once officers arrested Dertsakian, they recovered his handgun and ammunition he had locked in a safe, Guigno said.

Dertsakian can request a hearing to get his license back, Guigno said.

I guess the birthplace of the revolution proved him right.

I think he was paranoid because he believed the police would come and forcibly take away his guns.
