2014: S2933 - silencers

Postby newportri » Tue Oct 13, 2015 11:27 pm

I don't remember seeing this bill before and neither has anyone I have talked to... I know it's a little late, but I am posting for references and to remind us that we can hopefully get it introduced again next session.

Am i missing something here?

Exempts law enforcement and military officers, and "BB" guns and air rifles from the state prohibition against the sale of firearms silencers.

What good would this do me if I'm not a Military officer or Law Enforcement?

The title is quite misleading. Read the actual bill, it also included those under 11-47-11:
(b) The provisions of this section shall not apply to full-time members of the state police,
8 full-time members of city or town police departments, persons licensed under §§ 11-47-9 and 11-
9 47-11, or to sales of air rifles or "BB" guns or to sales of antique firearms as defined in § 11-47-2

Pro-Bills are imperative this session.
We need to get off the ropes and start swinging.

Automatic renewals of CCWs, SBRs, Suppressors, etc.
Safety first! Let's combat hearing loss!!

So is it legal to get a "silencer" in RI?? I though they were like SBRs and a "no no" in this state
