The wait is over, my permit was issued by the Smithfield PD today, nine months and two days after submission of the application. There can be only two reasons for the delay, either it was intentional or they are simply overworked and understaffed as they claimed. Either way, I am satisfied with the result, I expected inaction or a denial. Thanks for the ideas and encouragement from everyone on this forum.

Excellent, justharry. Thanks for updating the group on your success. Now use your experience, and help others through the process.

I was told by the dispatcher behind the glass that she doesn't have them. She says the Chief's secretary might or I can find it online. Hows this sound to you guys?

Sounds like BS to me. Ask the dispatcher to talk to the Chief (or his secretary) to obtain the application. If that doesn't work, request it through APRA.

There's a pretty good chance the Dispatcher actually doesn't have them and isn't lying. It's easy to get caught up in being hostile and assuming the worst of every PD employee you come into contact with but don't fall into that.

I had to call and speak to an Admin employee at EG PD to have her leave the application down with the dispatcher because I couldn't get there during business hours.

They should have the applications at the front desk or you where it is.

The dispatcher always hands off inquiries regarding CCW permits to the chief's secretary. If it's not possible to visit the station between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM, call the chief's secretary by phone during those hours and ask her to mail an application..

You're right I was assuming the worst (becoming cynical maybe).
Nonetheless I was polite and have since confirmed she wasnt BSing me and that the secretary is the person I want to talk to.
