I currently own an AR in 300 blackout with a 16" barrel. It's a great gun and I reload several different loads for it. I know the history and development of the round and the only thing a longer barrel does is allows for a longer sight picture if using open sights and creates an accurate rifle.

Now I want a shorter barrel so building a pistol (along with with keeping the 16" version)

Would that 300 brass be new manufactured brass or fired and converted from .223?

Does anyone have experience with the premium rounds, like the Barnes black tip?

once fired LC 556 brass that was converted. Not really interested in separating it from the lower though.

After shopping and comparing, I decided on complete a forged upper, 10.5" chrome moly bbl with threaded muzzle brake, mid-length free float, complete with BCG, charge handle, and round Fwd assist. It is currently $100 off and free shipping at AR15 Depot. And it's IN STOCK. I even contacted them to confirm that they have it and it will be shipped soon. I should be test firing it in a little over a week. :D :D

Well I bought some ammo, even though the rifle is still in pieces.

That is the Barnes 110gr TAC-TX round, Barnes is marketing this as a LE/MIL version of their TTSX hunting round. It's next to a 5.56 62gr.

A little late on this post, but the upper came to the house very quickly. Finished the build and it performed very well at the range. Pics to come when I get a chance.

Finished and test-fired. Only have 50 rounds through it so far, but completely satisfied and works GREAT. Took me a while to get the pictures, but finally here. I've never been a fan of the quad-rail and will probably change that sometime in the future, but for now I can live with it. :D :D

Looks nice. Do you use the brace on your arm or can you also use it as a stock?

I am not a fan of quadrails either, at least not the type that has really sharp edges. I really like Yankee Hill since they have some smooth free floating handguards that you can attach rails to where you want them so you might want to check them out. I am sure there are others that make similar handguards to.
